it’s been too long
I have been silent in this space for so many months that it has taken me the past few weeks to even figure out where to start again. Last fall flew by, a whirlwind of activity beginning with a visit from Martin’s family, being extra busy at work while my boss was on holiday, enjoyed a long weekend to Vienna, and finally capping off the year with three weeks back home on the West Coast with our families.
Now that we are home again it has taken a few weeks to recover from the holiday sinus infections and settle back into our routines. Before I move on to share current adventures, I want to look back at some of my favorites from last fall and over the holidays.
VIENNA
We spent a long, rainy and perfectly relaxing weekend in Vienna. Other than the spectacular fall colors and great coffee, the highlights were truly an evening hearing Sonny Rollins and seeing the Lipizzaners at the Spanish Riding Academy.
CHRISTMASTIME AROUND ZURICH
The holiday lights, Christmas market stalls, and dusting of snow really inspires holiday spirit here. I also loved some of the holiday advertising. One example below includes the gritibänz, the Swiss version of gingerbread men, that are made of a challah-like bread, and are gifted to children around Switzerland on Samichlaus (St. Nicolaus) Day, December 6th.
I hope that your holiday was filled with the joy of lights, snow, and Christmas cheer. For us, it was seeing some of you, our dearest friends and family, that really made our holiday.
